Lower Brule Man Sentenced on Failure to Register Charge

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Lower Brule man charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender was sentenced on March 26, 2012, by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Glen Eagle Thunder, age 37, was sentenced to 5 months’ custody; 5 months in a residential re-entry facility, and 5 years of supervised release.

Eagle Thunder was indicted by a federal grand jury in December 2011. In January 2012, he pled guilty to the indictment. The conviction stems from Eagle Thunder's failure to report for placement at a residential re-entry facility after being released from federal custody in November 2011. His whereabouts were unknown and in violation of his requirement to update his registration as a sex offender as required by conditions of his supervised release.

This case was investigated by the U.S. Marshal’s Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges prosecuted the case.

Eagle Thunder was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
